1. Pinch your barb down on the hook.

3. Tie in the several fibres for the tail.
4. Wrap the remaining Pheasant rump up the hook shank, stopping 1/8 inch from the eye of the hook.
5. Tie off the body material.
6. Optional - Counter wind the ribbing material up the body and tie off the rib.
7. Tie in the green saddle feather at the eye and wrap the feather around the shank two twice to build a hackle collar.
8. Fold the fibres back with each 1/2 wrap.
9. Build a small head by wrapping over some of the hackle fibres.
10. Whip finish and cement the head of fly.

Fishing Method:

I have fished this pattern with both floating and sinking lines. In shallow water, use a slow pull retrieve with several short 2 to 4 inch pulls every 15-20 seconds. On sinking lines let the fly sink near the bottom before you start your retrieve. I use a 3 to 4 second full hand twist with several 2 to 6 inch pulls to retrieve the fly. Try trolling this fly with a sinking line.
